Just use Gooner's south stadium expansion ....

ou-football-coaches-share-photos-of-stadium-renovations.1469728990000.jpeg
That would be an amazing plan. Update the fan experience in the south, get the fans closer to the field and more a part of the action, and improve the overall aesthetics of the stadium. Anyone whose been to pro games knows that's not too high up.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get these?

I sat up there for the Miami game. Absolutely amazing view of the action up there. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that you feel slightly removed from the rest of the crowd. Tearing down south stands and building multiple tiers properly you won't have this problem.

Really hope they keep this plan going, the endzones at this stadium are hideous and clearly cheap expansions to add seats. No thought was given to them at all. At least they have the chance to correct one of them.

I thought this is more of an update to the stadium and less of an "expansion" and that it was going to drop the over all capacity.

The upper deck is I'm sure an effort to keep spectators closer to the field. It also probably helps trap noise better.

I'm all for individual seats, rather than bleachers. Bleacher seating often doesn't give you a good footprint to sit in.

I would be surprised if they just blindly continue with Trev's plan. Doesn't mean they'll scrap the plan, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets reworked. Price tag is pretty high and plan was going to take a long time. Bare minimum- it will be reviewed by the new AD.

Additions and rebuilds are more costly than starting from scratch. NWs new stadium last I'd read was closing in on a billion. Not that large either.
If we think we can do this, we first have to capture the scope in size, costs and values.

Whorns end zone proposed stadium. $175M cost.

NU suggestion: Keeping Up with the Kardashians P4 teams ;)

Here's the thing. Eventually south stadium will need to be replaced. The longer it takes for the project to get off the ground, the more the price tag will climb. I think there would be a lot less pushback if they didn't have to displace all those fans for a year. Would be nice if they could find a way to do all the necessary stuff under the stadium to prepare for the build so that they could at least get stands in place in an offseason, even if more or less temporary. But that makes demo much harder, longer, and expensive. I really think 20 years ago they should have just demoed the stadium and rebuilt. Play games in KC for 2 years or something. Yes that sucks, but in hindsight would have been the thing to do.

I'm sure destroying our section of stadium is part of the reason for the extra cost. Texas pretty much had high school bleachers in their end zone, whereas we have a major structure. It also seems like our renovation would create more seating, albeit a very similar look to what Texas did.
