I'd like to hear more reports of fights breaking out in practice. Until we hear that guys are literally on the verge of beating the hell out of each other I'm afraid practices aren't intense enough for them to play with the level of intensity needed during games.

THIS... I remember the stories about Chris Dishman damn near tussling with both of the Christian & Jason Peter in the back to back practices. I would like to see that passion in the trenches as soon as yesterday.

Players only meeting... yawwwwn. Show me results. When it comes to saying the right things, this team and recent teams are second to none. Show me on the field, put up results.

NU needs permanent captains to keep players in check. Without them, it takes failure for players to stand up and take control. If Bo wants a new captain every week, have 3 or 4 permanent guys all season and one new guy each week.

I expect some of this "we suck" talk from the likes of GFoA, but there a some here that have had their big boy pants out to the cleaners. As with the players, we all should take a moment of forgetting about the past and looking forward to the next game, except for those who need to cry a bit more in their towels.

I'm using a shamwow. Very absorbent.

Guess they forgot to wear their "big boy pants" to the Rose Bowl and the Horseshoe, huh?

I agree. I'm glad I don't live around many Husker fans down here in Missouri, because I'd be tired of hearing all this negative talk.

With that said, just about every team will have a players only meeting at some point, especially if they are coming off a tough loss. The only thing to be concerned about, IMO, is if players didn't show up to the meeting, or walked out of the meeting. Otherwise, it's just teammates coming together, and doing what needs to be done to improve.

If the majority of people are saying the same thing is it negativity or just plain ol' reality?

These posts that hint at some sort of moral superiority are tiring.

Fan expectations are really not that lofty anymore. At this point, we're not asking for National Championship contenders every year. We're just asking for good, competitive football. We're not getting it! All we get is to be told to lower our expectations yet again and stop complaining. Phooey! For as much time and money as we invest in this program, we have the right to modest expectations and the right to be heard when those expectations aren't met.

And Bingo was his name-o.

You mean the Wisconsin offense that started a freshman QB, lost three O-Linemen to the NFL and had a Graduate Assistant coaching the offensive line? That unranked team they were down to by the score of 27-10 in the 3rd quarter and were very fortunate to beat?

No, the sky isn't falling, but there's not a whole lot of silver lining on those clouds, either. Maybe they'll turn things around this weekend against the mighty Northwestern Wildcats.

That's the issue. Beating Northwestern shouldn't be all that big of a deal. A legitimately solid team should have no problems with Northwestern. And if we do beat them, some will thump their chests. But realistically, it would be no more than a "nice win" -- unless Nebraska goes out and dominates on both sides of the ball for a pleasant change. And if we lose ..... we haven't seen anything yet on this BBS.

Funny how everyone labeled the game as a "must win", and had we lost all hell would have broke loose, but we win the game and it means nothing. Sort of like last years win over OSU, biggest comeback in school history yet, it means nothing because the starting QB didn't finish the game.

Loss of players/coaches/etc....is never an excuse as every team goes through it. They lost their O-Lineman. We lost arguably our top three defensive players from a defense that was already struggling.

Stopping Wisco isn't anything to thumps one's chest about.

Welcome to the New Normal.

Hoping to crack the top 25.

The same Wisconsin team that is sitting at 5-2 and just racked up 645 yards (including 467 on the ground!) a week after the Huskers kept them under 300 total yards. Wisconsin 2012 isn't Wisconsin 2011, but they're a solid football team with a powerful running game and a proven winner at head coach.

The problem, as I've stated before, isn't that we are a bad team. It's a lack of consistency. I still think we can hang with any team in the conference, as well as most teams nationally. I just don't think we can do it every week.

Well stated and no argument there. Consistency is the hallmark of great teams.

When fans are complaining this loudly, and ignorning the Wisconsin game but shouting from the rooftops about the OSU game, then yes, to me it's negativity, and I'm glad I'm not surrounded by it constantly.
