QB Casey Thompson took his entire offensive line out for dinner & bowling

I thought this was going to be about the Texas O-line going out for dinner. Really cool that a guy transfers in and works to build a bond like that. He's most likely a one-year and done player here, so I'm happy to see him giving every effort to not waste time.

When determining who the starting QB will be for 2022, the future is now. There is no mindset of building toward the future, as a head coach commonly gets in his first couple of seasons. It's very clear that 2022 is do-or-die.

I suppose there may very well be an open competition, but it would take one of the younger quarterbacks looking far-and-away better than Casey Thompson before you'd even consider naming Purdy or Smothers or Haarberg the starter.

If you're a coach with your job on the line this season, risk taking is not the best approach. The younger QBs may have high ceilings, but considering their lack of playing experience, the risk is higher than it would be with Casey Thompson.

One thing I'm certain of -- Casey Thompson is going to work his ass off. He didn't come to Lincoln to be handed the job without effort.

That dude is ready to grind. I don’t understand this fuss about Smothers not getting his fair shot based on three quarters of football. Frost is in win now mode and none of the other QBs are ready for what’s coming in my personal opinion. If they were ready the coaches never would’ve brought in two transfer quarterbacks. Does the Smothers crowd want Nebraska to succeed next year or have Frost lose enough games to get fired. I’m sure there will be a QB competition but you’re kidding yourselves if you think Smothers is beating out Thompson. If I’m wrong I’ll gladly say so. I’d bet 100 easy I’m right and it’s the best decision for the team next year. GBR

Just love this place! Whoever serves the pineapple quickly learns to bring it to my table often! I give the server a dollar every time they show up!

Bingo! That glazed grilled pineapple is the best!

And it is hard to not love all of the meat choices:

Agreed, I'm sure Smothers and Haarberg want to compete, but they also recognize that Thompson's an experienced guy who may only be spending a year at NU before the competition becomes wide open again
I think Haarberg will be the guy come time that Thompson is gone. He's got that uncoachable arm talent that I think Whipple loves. Who knows though

Virtually guarantees the QB with the best chance to win games will be playing. (by the way, that isn't a new approach)
