N2FL Ranks the 2021 Commits

#1 is easy, Calvin Jones. My favorite Husker. After that it gets a bit tricky. The other guys I'd put in my top 5 aren't in-state kids. Going down the list a bit I'd go with Ahman Green and Zach Wiegert, but there aren't a lot of guys from the 80's and beyond (my era) who I watched play. Saying guys like Johnny Rodgers wouldn't be fair. And frankly, Eric Crouch and Scott Frost weren't favorites of mine, so that'd be a bogus list.

I'll go ahead and cheat and just list my top 5 favorite Husker offensive and defensive players:

Offense:

1. Calvin Jones
2. Lawrence Phillips
3. Ahman Green
4. Tommie Frazier
5. Will Shields

Defense (VERY difficult to narrow down):

1. Ndamukong Suh
2. Trev Alberts
3. Ed Stewart
4. Broderick Thomas
5. Toby Wright
Defense:
1. Suh
2. Grant Wistrom
3. Mike Brown
4. Peters Brothers :)
5. Lavante David
6. Clete Pillen
(I cheated too)
Offense:
1. Ahman Green
2. Lawrence Phillips
3. Tommie Frazier
4. Mike Rozier
5. Stanley Morgan

Mike Brown is one of my favorites ever. The most reliable free safety I've ever seen play the game - he's an all-time great in both college & the NFL, and criminally underrated.

I'm a Bears fan and I loved Mike Brown. I still think they beat the Colts and win SB XLI if he and Tommie Harris had played. Those two were Pro Bowl guys. Chicago really missed them

I'll have to re-watch that game. Urlacher called him "the smartest football player I’ve ever been on the field with." Crazy to think that if that had gone the other way, we could have lived in a world where (at least until 2015) Rex Grossman was a Super Bowl winning QB & Manning wasn't.

So, Huskers swapped a #8 for a #5 with the LB decommit & RB commit. I will take the trade-off. :)
