Jahkeem Green Is On Campus; Officially N

At least this year they have 2 Daniels to fill the position. Damien is now in his 2nd year of the Duvall program and has 2 years after this year of eligibility, let’s see if the conditioning kicks in. If Green no shows then go after another Juco for next year. That still gives them 2 more years of Damien, a potential for 2-3 years of a Juco and Nash who is gonna need time to develop

They're fine without Green this year. Like I said "Just get another juco" is a strategy that has been easier said than done. Nebraska hasn't signed a juco DT since Bill Callahan was the coach, and it's not for a lack of trying. There have been several years where the Huskers have gone hard with the intent of adding a juco DT to a class. The only reason you have a shot at a prospect like Green (#2 juco DT) is because he's not eligible for the SEC.

Really good defensive linemen are the most highly coveted position group in recruiting. It's even more so with a plug and play talent coming from juco. Banking on getting a talent from the juco ranks is not realistic. Not only do you need to make sure the guy is good enough to play in the Big Ten immediately and give you valuable reps, but then you gotta beat out the Alabama's and LSU's of the world to get them. Far from a given.

Anyone who dismisses the potential loss of a guy like Green either doesn't understand the whole picture, or is trying to soften the blow mentally for losing him. JMPO.

Yup, need Green as a bridge for next year(plus depth this year), and let Nash develop. Hopefully Daniel's can develop into more than a part time player, NU needs him to.

It’s not a dismissal as much as moving on. Maybe he comes maybe he doesn’t. Whatever so be it. IMO if he’s as good as advertised wherever he goes it’s one and done. It’s obvious to me he’s not that interested in academics by the path he’s currently on

if he no shows do they move Piper back to D? That would be my thought him/DD next year with Nash playing if needed.

Curious why uou think we have struggled. Agree with all your points and really hope he sticks to his commitment, but seems crazy we have struggled so much at this position.

This sure sounds like a bummer ... but, maybe Green has been tracking all the recent MJ citations and wants to keep his record clean.

:Sarcastic:

It doesn't take multiple years go get in shape when you are that young. Either he has a huge amount of fast twitch fibers, which is good for short periods but run out of gas quick. Or he isnt working/eating right. I believe the first theory more. Either way he is at best a part time player, which isnt good for NU.
His nickname is "Snacks." Also, anybody reading this who can run the length of the football field without stopping and without having a heart attack--jogging and speed walking count--would beat him in a 100 yard dash. Yes, he only needs to be quick, and he's not running marathons, but there is something seriously off with his overall conditioning.

Well, this is basically what we said last year. As @N2FL pointed out, it’s not as easy as “just go get a JUCO.” Think where we’d be if we didn’t have a brother on the team to get a grad transfer? Darrion will take most the snaps, Damion will go 2-3 plays at a time, then you are back to sliding Davis down to NG. If Darion goes down with injury we are back to Davis there full time if Green doesn’t show up.

Still think they are contemplating moving Robinson to NG. Extremely different playing there tho.

Friends don't let friends move to Lubbock....been there, done that, wish I had some decent friends at the time to warn me. In fairness, they didn't know how big a crap hole it was either.

Moving Ty Robinson inside to NG would be like robbing Peter to pay Paul. They are still trying to rebuild that entire d-line, not just NG. Robinson is an ideal 3-4 end. Having to move him stunts the depth and building process at the end spot. That'd be unfortunate if that's his destiny.

It has been impossible to bring in a quality juco d-lineman. Don't know why it is so hard. Even with a defensive minded coach like Pelini. Maybe the SEC offers a better chance to get to NFL?
