Hoiberg said video coordinator Matt Holt took over for Gates on the road during the first July live evaluation period last weekend.

***Hoiberg said forward Wilhelm Breidenbach participated in his first live action of the summer on Tuesday morning. He said the 6-foot-10 sophomore “looked great” in his most extensive debut since tearing his ACL just 10 games into last season.

***Hoiberg said the future additions of USC and UCLA to the Big Ten were both exciting and surprising.

***Hoiberg said Walker was “going to go down as one of my all-time favorites” that he’d ever coached. Walker has been an important piece for Nebraska on the court, but his leadership has been equally valuable, if not more so.

Hoiberg called Walker a player who “does everything right” and “doesn’t complain” when times get tough.
