Happy Memorial Day

Laid flowers on my father and mother in-laws grave at the Sturgis National Cemetery

My mom, dad and brother all served

Mom and dad are buried in the Riverside National Cemetery in California

Born and raised in a military family and having had an English Uncle killed in action this is the most solemn of days

I salute all these fellow warriors who are no longer with us

In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow

Was fortunate to take the Arlington National Cemetery tour with my family when I was in DC for daughters law school graduation. I'm not sure my children will completely understand but who knows.

Solemn day indeed and one of gratitude as well.
