Truly is a term of endearment in the inner city community. When used for an old guy by a young guy it means you may be old but your are still cool. I took my wrestling team out for dinner one time and a friend of my wife who is very pretty was talking to me out of ear shot of my guys. She was giving me her phone number for my wife to call her. They turned to my daughter and said, "Dang DJ your dad is a G." My daughter told them, "Thats my moms friend you guys are idiots." Still makes me laugh.
