BIG - ACC Challenge

Wow, BIG just went up 5-0 in the challenge.

Lots of good looking teams in the BIG this year. Much improved.

We need Leslee Smith back and/or we need to figure something out on the interior or we are going to have some issues with some of these BIG teams.

B1G up 6-2 over the ACC by my count after Tuesday's games. That means B1G needs to win only ONE of the final six games slated for Wednesday to retain possession of the challenge trophy. :)

The conference that wins most of the games for that year takes possession. In case of a tie, the existing trophy holder retains possession. The B1G won outright in 2011, and tied in 2012 & 2013 (with Nebraska winning both their games ).

The series is Lopsided, with the ACC winning 10, to 3 for the B1G, with 2 ties. The ACC has won 86 individual games vs 61 for the B1G. Time for the B1G to start catching up!

Nebraska lost their first game in the series (2011 vs Wake Forest, 55-53) but the B1G won overall 8-4. Nebraska won both their games the next two years (2012 vs Wake Forest 79-63; 2013 vs Miami 60-49), Critical to B1G tying with the ACC and retaining possession of the trophy!

I think you are correct, but btn.com is saying we need to win two more games to clinch.

The Big Ten now holds a 6-2 advantage over the ACC. Eight victories are needed to win the annual event, which is in its first season with 14 games, so the Big Ten needs just two more wins to clinch it. - See more at: http://btn.com/2014/12/02/track-live-accbig-ten-challenge-day-2/#sthash.WZ1LdFav.dpuf

Penn St just clinched the trophy for the BIG. (although I'd like to win at least 8 games).

Any additional victories are icing on the cake.

That is, of course, correct. Two more wins for the B1G to win outright and CLINCH this year's challenge! But in case of a TIE (7 wins for each conference) the existing holder of the trophy retains possession. The B1G, which won outright in 2011 to gain possession of the trophy, tied in 2012 & 2013. While they cannot claim the title, they still retain possession of the trophy.

The point is Moot now since B1G has (at least) two wins today. ;)

Sparty looks very beatable this year! They are missing Payne in the middle. I still worry about their ability to outrebound us, but I think we get them.

Are they supposed to be any good this year? Iowa, that is...

Not from what I have read. TBL had an Iowa scribe on earlier and he said Iowa didn't have much of a chance. Fran is a pretty good coach though.

they are now 6-2 with both losses coming from ranked teams.
