That seems like a pretty solid hire by Michigan. I wonder what the appeal was for him to depart Alabama?

He was the Michigan State QB coach when we played them in the 2003 Alamo Bowl. Maybe the loss to Auburn was the motivator?

Nussmeier made $680,000 in 2013. In a report from CBSSports' Bruce Feldman, Michigan plans to make Nussmeier one of the top five highest-paid assistant coaches in college football. - See more at: http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1595741#sthash.EniU0Nia.dpuf

The 43-year-old coach interviewed for the head coaching position at Washington in December but finished runner-up to Chris Petersen. Nussmeier was asked about that experience and said he was glad to be in Tuscaloosa. - See more at: http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1595741#sthash.EniU0Nia.dpuf

AM590 reported that if Watson does NOT get the gig at Louisville, he's going to Texas...

:rolfl: At the ShaggyBevo meltdown if that happens.

He's not getting the L'ville gig.

From what I've read, ShaggyBevo posters don't even refer to Watson by name, presumably just in case he will show up if you say his name three times.

I don't think BAMA was happy with Doug. I think he left on his own terms while he still could.

Lane Kiffin as their next OC?

It is simply amazing that this guy keeps getting jobs. He'll probably be a head coach again within 3 years, when he will again run a team into the ditch.

Pelini has to be  over the thought that Michigan had a chance to "update" their offensive schemes and they doubled-down on a pro-style attack that he has feasted on, save this year's Mich St game (which wasn't a defensive letdown).

That solves about half the problems there...or creates more depending on who they hire. It's not like Michigan's defense was turning any heads this year. I think before it's over being a "Michigan man" isn't going to be as important as being a good football coach which I don't think Hoke is.

Hoke's tenure at Michigan is a classic example of how meaningless recruiting rankings are to real football. His classes always look great on paper, but when you actually see them play, a significant amount of his recruits are vastly over-rated and under-developed.
