Huskers Open as 8 point favorites over Northwestern; Already up to 12

History has shown that Northwestern starts playing better football right about this time of year, and it always seems to be against the Huskers. But every year is a new year, so I feel like the Huskers could finally cover against them. Oline must play better for that to happen.

I don't bet, but this game is the only "lock" we have remaining on the schedule IMO. I have full confidence the 'skers win comfortably.

Let's also remember most of these people are driving rusted out 1996 Hondas to the slot machines. Not exactly "experts".

If you say so

Oh and I disagree I know a few of those guys and they drive pretty nice vehicles

Best not to stereotype

We have a history of tough hard fought games against Northwestern but they don’t seem as good this year. I predict a low scoring slugfest. Honestly that’s what I predict for every game going forward. We have a very good defense and a bad offense. We have the edge at quarterback. They have the edge at head coach. I think Nebraska wins this Saturday.

Over the years Northwestern has pushed the Huskers hard in Lincoln, even when outmatched player to player. I also see this being a one score game defensive slugfest. Special teams may determine who wins.

I view this as a great opportunity for Frost to turn the page, quiet some critics and have many of our fans view the team in a positive light? We need to smack the living heck out of NW and leave them for dead in Memorial Stadium. It's all there if Frost can breath some fire into the offense and stop the bleeding from out ST's. Now can we actually do what needs to be done? I'd give it a 50-50 shot at actually stomping NW at best.

Fitzgerald always coaches well with what he has it seems, so it could be close. But I'd like to see us more than cover. That would show we may be starting to not play down / "win the ones we should", which is a key development step for where we are right now.

In particular, can our D sustain their level of play against a weaker offense? Can they go full foot on throat?

And considering our special teams woes are often (though not always) largely self inflicted, it would also mean something not to have a major screw up there, even in a game where a ST screw up wouldn't necessarily cause a loss.

I'd ask for better OL play too but I don't want to get greedy.

They always play us hard. Just like other teams, they will look and wait for the opportunities where we flub up. That is all opposing teams need until we stop doing it.
