My 77 Cougar, with a V-8 351 Windsor, complete with tan vinyl roof. The engine compartment could have easily housed a V-12. :Rolf:

I traded my Ranchero and $300 for the Cougar. It was by that time already pretty loose at 110,000 miles. Back then, over 100K miles, the car was basically worth nothing.

The 1970's were the worst decade for automobiles ever. At least the American ones. I would actually qualify that by defining the 1970's as maybe model year 1973 forward. The combination of the 5 mph bumper regulation and the very, very poor response of US manufacturers to the emissions control regulations followed quickly by the energy crisis meant a lot of really, really bad automobiles got built.

Yes, my Cougar had right around 115,000 miles on it and it was on its last leg. Traded for a 1980 Buick Century and burned up the motor at 186,000. Got a rebuild that only lasted maybe a year. My dad told me that GM used aluminum block engines during that time and when your "engine hot" light came on, it was already post toasties.

Ok they were horrible, but what would you want to buy right now to let your young teenage daughter drive? there was a lot of steel to protect them, that is where I am right now. bigger is better. cool don't mean sh*t

Oh, and by the way, her little brother is gonna drive the most doggy pickup I can find, probably a golf cart with big wheels. He, at 12 thinks he can outdrive anyone. :O O::Facepalm::Mad:

Both of these are nice, big, lot's of steel, still have that cool factor.

She don't care about "cool" heck she is whatever dad says I can drive (if she passes the tests). Its her little brother that scares the living beejeeus out of me. She is careful, her little brother has that gleam in his eye, that scares me .
