New tournament attendance record

The Big Ten Baseball Tournament set a new total attendance record following a second day of record-setting crowds. The two-day total of 22,156 establishes a new conference record for a single tournament, while Thursday's attendance of 11,756 established a single-day tournament attendance record, surpassing the 10,400 who attended Wednesday's opening games.

The prior record of 12,000 for the entire tournament was set in Columbus. Last year the entire attendance was only about 6,000.

This is absolutely incredible, and as of yet, is not getting the attention it deserves. There are no better fans in American than Husker fans.

Agreed. They mentioned numbers a bit last night, but they sure seem to be avoiding the elephant in the room.

The championship game should surpass the overall attendance record by itself when we get there.

As long as NU is in contention their games will continue to draw crowds. The only way the final crowd mark will get beaten is if they go back to Ameritrade with an NCAA Championship caliber team next year.

I've actually been a little disappointed by the turnout.

During the games the Huskers aren't playing, the stadium pans are dismal.

Omahans are used to supporting CBB, with and without NU as part of the fun, but that doesn't seem to be the case for the entirety of the conference tourney.

Why aren't they announcing the attendance? If it is not mentioned, Delaney can move this to Minneapolis, again? Only an idiot would go back to Minneapolis. That was a pathetic place, last year. It was disgustingly empty the whole tournament, save Husker fans! :(

Do you expect Husker fans to support the other games? Aren't they charged for each game? Blame the turnout of the other teams' fans, not ours

True. The other teams do have poor fan support. The other problem is that the other teams (minus Indiana) are poor baseball teams. Nebraskans have no problem watching good baseball -- even not their Huskers (hence the CWS). But to watch a bunch of pathetic teams (other than NU and IU) is simply not worth the time and effort.

Exactly. The Big 10 is a mid-major in baseball.

And strangely, I still miss Rosenblatt. Ameritrade is a very nice ballpark. But it almost looks "fake." It simply doesn't have nearly the character Rosenblatt did. I understand tearing it down and moving forward -- but I miss it.

You have so many good memories, it would be tough to accept. Hey, as said, you will always have those memories with grandpa :)
