What would this guy do with our WR room?

Guy was able to squeeze out more with the talent he was given than any other WR coach we’ve had in recent memory.

There’s a reason a number of NFL players hire him as a private coach.

completely irrelevant

3 DUI’s >>>>>>>>>> coaching ability

should never have been allowed to be on staff in the first place, but definitely should have been fired immediately after his THIRD arrest.

Part of recruiting is indeed evaluating, so ya the whole jr thing along with fellow stiffs Lindsey, mcquitty is on him….

how many 1st round WR are on the ravens roster? I get Lamar is quit Sporadic as a passer, but they may have the least productive WR group in the NFL…certainly if you consider draft possession (patriots don’t have that many 1st rd’)
In the NFL Baltimore is a different breed. Due to philosophy and Lamar they have the most physical running attack around, which skews perception of their passing game and receivers. Despite that their WR room is MUCH improved this year - Keith's first with the team. Lamar has improved as a passer which helps, but Hollywood Brown has also made great strides. I don't have access to advanced stats such as separation metrics or depth of targets, but when I watch the Ravens he's a weapon in ways he wasn't in years past. He seems open - which is a mark of good route running.

Speaking of which.... since leaving Nebraska, KW has mostly just been a personal WR coach. Green Bay packer Davonte Adams is a client. If you watch the Packers, Adams makes some amazing plays, but about 6 times a game he is wide open. How does a guy, that the defense is keying on, get 5 to 10 yards of separation regularly? Route running. No doubt Adams has great hands, but like Marvin Harrison before he's both average in size (6'1) and speed (4.56 at the combine). An ability to get off the line, set defenders up, and make sharp moves/cuts is what makes Adams elite. Those same things are the key to Hollywood Browns new found success. They are also the same things that made Stanley Morgan a record breaker here.

I'd take KW back in a second. I might just hire him a driver.

Great coach. No quibble there.

But no evidence of recruiting.

Gotta have the right combo of both.

2015: Stanley Morgan 3 star
Lavan Alston 3 star

Morgan committed before the coaching change, but Williams kept him

2016: JD Spelman 3 star
Derrion Grim 3 star

One of the best WRs in program history and a bust.

2017: Jaevon McQuitty 4 star
KJ Jr 4 star
Tyjon Lindsey 4 star

Possibly more recruiting stars at WR in this class than any in program history. Perhaps if KW would have stuck around he could have gotten more out of McQuitty and Lindsey?

2018 (before staff change):
Joshua Moore - 4 star, was starting WR at Texas, just entered the portal
Cameron Brown - 4 Star, went to OSU and played corner - starter in 2020 before an achilles injury

I get what you're saying, DUIs in 2004, 2009, and 2016. There's a risk. You'd have to vet his personal life and make sure he's atoned. If your confident those issues are behind him, move ahead. He's paid his debt.
