I'm pretty surprised about Hawkins. I was looking forward to seeing what the offseason would do for him. I guess he wants more minutes? Two additional scholarships for the staff to work with. Use both this year, or hold one for next year?
Surprised about Hawkins. Not sure about the circumstances, so I'll refrain from speculating.
In general, I like to see kids overcome adversity and not run from it. Again, not saying that is what is happening in this case.
Really odd, as Gallegos is leaving and that was the void he was going to fill. However, the coaches asked both him and Fuller to redshirt and Hawkins said no. And I have heard good things about Fuller. Also, I think Hawkins has a girlfriend back home, not sure if she is in high school or what, but I bet he moves back south. It also frees up some scholarships for us to use and capitalize on our season, and maybe take a chance on a guy like Deng Deng who suffered a bad ankle injury which is what the hold up is for us and him.
We could take one or two D1 transfers. Possibly Deng Deng. Maybe leave a scholarship open in case something weird happens over the summer for people. But remember, with Kenya and Harriman, we have some pretty good relationships with kids on other teams that might not be extremely happy.
Keep an eye here for 2015 with the departure of Hawkins:

Also, apparently this kid was not blown away by his Iowa visit and is still scheduling, though I think the Hawkeyes are the team to beat:

I Wouldn't take two transfers if I could help it.. I'd think that would leave NU pretty thin next year with both having to sit out. NU can't just assume it's going back to the dance with essentially the same cast they had this year. They need help immediately at some spots..even if it's just 10 min a game. Not sure Fuller and the Center from Texas are going to be significant role players right away.
Girlfriend attends A & M.
Atwood is tight with Trey Dickerson, Juco point guard who committed to Iowa, and at one time it was rumored they were a package deal. We'll see if that holds true.
That Atwood kid has a very very good last name!
