Secret Scrimmage! :p

(in case anyone has maxed-out their LJS access)

The NCAA doesn't allow media to attend the so-called "secret" men's basketballs scrimmages you'll hear about this time of year, and scores and statistics aren't supposed to be kept and/or made public. So we rely on little birds to scrape together some details, however unofficial or secret they may be.

And a little bird who attended Nebraska's closed scrimmage Sunday against Kansas State, in Omaha, reports a Nebraska victory -- sort of.
The teams' top units played 30 minutes of man-to-man and 10 minutes of zone. Nebraska and Kansas State played to a tie in the man-to-man portion, but Nebraska won by seven in the zone portion.

The teams also played 10 minutes of man-to-man with the reserves, with Kansas State winning by nine.

Nebraska started the same starting five it used at the end of last season: Tai Webster, Terran Petteway, Shavon Shields, David Rivers and Walter Pitchford.

Other tidbits:

Nebraska's top six, which includes Benny Parker, is "really solid;" Pitchford, in particular, stood out offensively, as did Tai Webster, who was 3-for-3 on three-pointers; Nebraska's back-up big men need to be better; In the 30-minute man-to-man portion that ended tied, Nebraska missed at least six free throws.

If Webster can truly become a threat from 3 point range the Huskers will be in for a really great season. That has to be proven on game day out in the open though.:)

Says in one of the articles about the secret scrimmage that Jake Hammond played, which must mean that he's over his concussion issues. Can't wait to see what the bigs look like this year.
