I'm not sure a non-qualifier should even count as a commitment on the tracking sites. The player can't sign and often times don't end up at the original school that pursued them.
All true, and that is why the staff is still recruiting WRs as though he won't be included in the class. If, however, he IS eligible, we want him. At this point it costs us nothing to have him committed, and the up-side is high. If he's not eligible, he won't be allowed to sign, but they'll already be working with placing him in a JuCo before there's some last minute drama.
Well said. And add to that the optics of getting vs. not getting an instate Rivals 100 to commit. It's a chance you have to take, and the staff will have plenty of time to plan accordingly if/when it becomes apparent that he won't qualify.
Betts does have this summer and a whole school year to dig out of whatever academic hole he is in. Hopefully he can do it.
