(Lots More Information on the Game Page (more than you really want to know )

Nebraska (13-7, 4-3 Big Ten) come into Thursday's game as winners of six of their last eight games following the 64-63 win over Illinois on Monday evening. James Palmer Jr. provided the heroics, hitting a 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left to cap a 24-point performance. In fact, Nebraska's last two games have gone down to the final three seconds, as the Huskers lost at Penn State in the final 2.7 seconds of overtime.

While Palmer, who leads three Huskers in scoring at 15.7 points per game, hit the game winner, the play of Isaiah Roby and Evan Taylor helped key Nebraska's rally. Roby nearly posted a double-double in his first start of the year, finishing with nine points, 10 rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Taylor, who came off the bench, added 13 points, five rebounds and two assists.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN
Under Coach John Beilein, Michigan is 16-4 on the season and playing its best basketball over the last month. The Wolverines have won nine of its last 10 games since a loss to Ohio State on Dec. 9, with the only loss being a one-point setback to Big Ten co-leader Purdue on Jan. 9. Michigan, whose non-conference losses were to LSU and North Carolina, started the streak with wins over UCLA and at Texas to begin a five-game win streak to close non-conference action. Since resuming Big Ten play, Michigan has wins over Iowa, Illinois and Maryland, as well as a 10-point win at Michigan State last Saturday. Michigan averages 76.3 points per game and ranks second in the Big Ten with 9.6 3-pointers per contest. The Wolverines also lead the conference in turnover margin (+4.7 per game), as they commit a conference-low 9.8 turnovers per game.

Michigan, which returned two starters from its NCAA Sweet 16 team, has three players averaging double figures and a fourth averaging 9.4 points per game. Moritz Wagner tops the Wolverines in scoring (14.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg), while Kentucky transfer Charles Matthews also averages 14.9 points per game and ranks second among all Big Ten newcomers in scoring. Michigan has eight players who have connected on at least 10 3-pointers, including 39 from Duncan Robinson and 31 from Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman.

The Wolverines, who are ranked 23rd in this week's AP poll, are coming off a 68-67 win over Maryland on Monday. The Wolverines needed two free throws from Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman with 1.2 seconds left to escape with the win.

Must win if NU is to eventually climb into NCAA consideration. This and the OSU game are the only two chances for NU to make a case for itself.

Good post. The NCAA tournament is a pipe dream unless you win this game. They win this game, then I think people can start the talk of what needs to happen. Big game.

Theoretically they could still get in despite going 0-2 the next two weeks, but that would mean picking up a couple road wins against Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, etc. as well as winning all the remaining home games. Even then they'd still probably need to win one or two in the tournament.

RPI of NU's remaining games:

19
188
143
128
67
188
53
155
109
132

Best wins so far: Minny (67) and BC (64). Losing the next two would mean NU would have to virtually run the table and have a gaudy enough record to where not having any top 50 wins wouldn't matter. Think about that. NU has only 2 more chances for a top 50 win. They already have a loss to 132 (PSU) so losing to ANY of the remaining 100+ teams would simply be out of the question should they not get one of these next two. And does anyone really think NU can sweep the 7 100+ teams? For NU to make the dance it's going to take a 2014ish deal where a few guys play out of their minds for about 6 weeks straight.

I know I keep harping on it but it's amazing how bad the big 10 is this year. If you take out the top 2 and the bottom 2 from the big 10 (to make it 10 teams) you basically have the missouri valley this year. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Men.html

I don't mean this as a compliment, but that is only something a Tim Miles team is capable of.

There have been a bunch of upsets this week, and I look for that trend to continue tonight in Lincoln. We have never beaten the Wolverines(0 - 8) and after last years debacle, 93 - 57, I am hoping that this years team is highly motivated to avenge that ugly loss, and take a direct step forward, towards the Big Dance. GO BIG RED!!!!

Yes, just like Miles got over the McDermott streak earlier this year! :Bananalazy:

I'll be there yelling my fool head off tonight. I'm going to try to start a "JORDY BOOM-AH-YAY" chant. :)

Here's 'The Skinny' from another site:

"The Skinny
Death, Taxes, and Bo Ryan John Beilein is the new standard of consistency in the B1G as Michigan is back in the ratings after thumping Michigan St on the road and outlasting Maryland at home to rise to 16-4. The Wolverines reloaded with Charles Matthews, Isaiah Livers and Jordan Poole to compliment 6'11" matchup nightmare Moe Wagner. You know exactly what Michigan is going to do most nights: offensively they'll run a 5 out offense that often features a two man game between Wagner and Matthews. Defensively they play mostly man, run you off the 3pt line, are great at sealing off to prevent offensive rebounds, and tend to guard without fouling.

Is Jordy back tonight? It probably doesn't matter because I'd expect very little minutes from any of the centers while Wagner is in the game (You can probably steal some minutes when Freshman Jon Teske subs in). Michigan has been a very tough matchup for Nebraska's pack line defense in the past but this year's squad that put the kibosh on Creighton and Kansas from long range should be up to the task and will give up some easy twos in the process. Don't fret; this is part of the game plan. Nebraska can't expect to shutdown Michigan but it doesn't have to; they just need to hold keep Michigan to a pedestrian per possession number.

How does Nebraska beat Michigan? Run it down their throats. That beat down in Lincoln last year? Forget it, that team was DOA. You saw the blueprint last year with Tai Webster and company as a Nebraska team who only attempted 5 FTs managed to score 80+ points. You essentially have the same personal in that game but have replace Webster with It's there and that is eventually how you get some open looks from outside.

Is Nebraska up to the task? They have been in big games and this is a big one.
Prediction: Michigan 72 - Nebraska 68"
