But think of the gophers!I'm good with Carl Spackler being the 'Bag Man'.
Seems legit.
I mean, you're have a personal relationship with the Dalai Lama, so your moral compass has to be spot on.
But think of the gophers!
I was in the pool when the Baby Ruth floated byIf we'd have gotten Carl involved on offense against Minnesota.....we win that game.
Cinderella story. Out of nowhere.
Bank it.
You know where that belongsI was in the pool when the Baby Ruth floated by

There’s a quote from Ron Brown in the Day by Day documentary where he acknowledges in the 90s that Dr. Tom and co. finally took a stance with their recruits to look more at the type of person they were recruiting and not just the type of player. I believe he said something along the lines of going after kids who would rather die than be beat.
Great documentary for those who haven’t seen it, and on Amazon Prime for those that have it on their TV’s.
This fumble did lose the game ... hold onto the ball and the Huskers have a 1st down with Minnesota unable to prevent the Huskers from burning the majority if not all of the clock out.One fumble didn't lose the game. Gifford dropped an int in the endzone on 3rd down just before the TD, for example.
jeez, can't argue with that logic. This fumble did lose the game ... hold onto the ball and the Huskers have a 1st down with Minnesota unable to prevent the Huskers from burning the majority if not all of the clock out.
Sure there are other plays that affected the outcome but it is extremely difficult if not impossible the develop a set of circumstances that suggest if AG didn't fumble that ball that the Huskers still could've lost.
Team game - yes.
Other plays that affected the outcome - sure.
Still doesn't negate the significance and importance that fumble had on the outcome of the game!
You described the outcome and significance of that fumble perfectly. This fumble did lose the game ... hold onto the ball and the Huskers have a 1st down with Minnesota unable to prevent the Huskers from burning the majority if not all of the clock out.

There were 5 minutes left when Grant fumbled. Let's say NU drive stalls and we miss a field goal. Minnesota gets the ball back with 3 minutes left (I base that on the time 3 play drives took in the game summary). After the fumble, Minnesota drove 53 yds for the TD in 2:21. That still gives them +/- :40 secs if they needed or if Rhule punted. Just saying it isn't that hard to imagine a scenario to lose without the fumble. You described the outcome and significance of that fumble perfectly.
