Welcome to the family! Given that Vanderbilt was his leader, I assume qualifying academically won't be an issue.
Welcome aboard! If you are going to offer a scholarship to a PK, it might as well be one of the best in the country.
Pickering is set to join a long line of excellent PKs at NU. Dale Klein is the first kicker that I remember watching. Since then we've had great ones like Kris Brown, Josh Brown, Alex Henery, and Drew Brown . Even our next tier of kickers - guys like Drennan, Barrios, Maher, Dykes, and Congdon - were pretty damn good. Byron Bennett certainly missed some big kicks, but he had a decent overall career. Even Sandro DeAngelis ended up playing professional football.

Great addition. If we sign less than 21, and we will, this will keep our class out of the Top15 and probably Top20 since the recruiting services undervalue kickers.
