Nebraska in 2000: no conference championship. 2001: no conference championship. 2002: same. 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013....

I will gladly accept the trend suggested in the OP. (And I do think I've seen this before. ;) )

Seriously ... I would gladly take the conference championship trend ending -- even with no national title. :)
