Immediate QB help

I almost landed Kate Upton.

Silliness. Taylor Martinez would not have started at QB for Alabama, OSU, Michigan, or any other team you are hoping for us to compete with. Let's not get crazy here. Don't tell me we need a top notch dual threat and then talk about how good Martinez was.

I mean, they have an all ACC tackle who is a sophomore. ESPN described him thusly:

Among the nation's best in pass protection = mediocre?

The AP ACC first team offense gives mediocre Clemson even more credit. Their first team includes Hyatt, mentioned above, Clemson's center, and a Clemson jr. guard. Hell, they picked more than half the starters as all ACC first team. Mediocre indeed.

Not the same. A QB from Bama (or any other "D1" school) would need to sit for a year. He would not be depth insurance for 2017. If you bring in a JUCO or a grad transfer, they could play immediately and would add depth for next year where Gebbia will almost certainly RS.

Did you read the article? It said he WAS a grad transfer.

And further... everyone knows MSU was the second best team in the B1G last year... maybe even the third...

a fluke botched punt and JT Barrett's refusal to give the ball to Zeke Elliot on the zone read meant that the B1G did not send its best representative to the playoffs to play Bama...

Yeah, can't trust those dual threat QBs to make the right decision some times, can you.

We've been trying your method for 8 years.

Or...are you saying Beck and Pelini didn't want guys like hurts and jackson?

Actually been trying this method since about 1970 something. It isn't that prior to those 8 years NU was a NFL QB team.

As to being able to find a great pro-QB easier than finding a Lamar Jackson....well, don't really think so. Each year there are about 12 teams in the NFL looking for a great QB....and each year, they MIGHT find 1. Now how are 117 colleges going to divide up the 2-4 that MIGHT be available each year?

Actually finding a top notch dual threat QB has nothing to do with the NFL, you're not competing with them.

Every college today wants that top notch dual threat QB, so we have to compete with them all. What makes us special, what makes us different. Back when we were getting top notch dual threat QBs we were different, different in the fact no one else wanted a dual threat QB. Today the reverse is true. Today it is easier to get a good pro style QB because the competition from other colleges isn't as great.

Pro-STYLE...not pro, necessarily. You can have a very good "pro-style" QB in college that doesn't necessarily translate to great NFL QB or first round pick.

Finding a Lamar Jackson is SO much harder than finding a Wilton Speight ("only" 3 star on 247). And when you do think you have found one...often they end up not being able to hit the broad side of a barn.

Extremely rare...means he graduated in 3 years. no wonder he didn't crack the line up...he was too busy with school!
Many kids are taking college credits in HS nowadays...and not just a few credits, sometimes the show up to college as a "near" sophomore credit-wise.

Finding a great "pro style" qb will be infinitely easier than finding a Lamar Jackson.
You bet. Great pro style quarterbacks are a dime a dozen. Almost every high school across the country has one. They're coming out of the woodwork! All Nebraska has to do is grab one, plug one in, and start winning NCs.
