Had a way to go for it, but if he does not bobble it, the runner either
stays at 3rd or is out at hp, the way Greg was describing it.

Two games last inning losses…
Closers gave up walks instead of hits.
That can be fixed I think.
yesterday we simply hit the ball hard right at them All game long and their dink hits that dropped in made the difference
Today was just a hard fought game….. we had our chance to win it….just didn’t.
I hate to say it, but that’s baseball!

I hope losing games in the 9th inning doesn't become a habit with this team.
Last year we would either start with a big lead or much more often the first two innings set the tone of the game badly for us
This year’s team just looks a little more “seasoned” to me.
But it’s so darn early in the season who the heck knows.
Still, a far better start to the season this year than last year against far better teams.

Closer is always tough to find in pre season.
You never really know till they are in a real game….with the game on the line.
Walks are just inexcusable.
unless you are facing their very best….you don’t dance around the corners.
throwing strikes is just everything.
if they beat you with solid hits, you tip your cap and try again.
But you don’t give it to them on walks…..ever..
I miss Schwellenbach…..
But I’m sure Coach will find someone or even multiple someone’s.
The good news is we played pretty solid baseball to open the season.
Against “Southern schools”….. from a conference that regularly puts multiple teams in the NCAA.
I’m really excited to play Grand Canyon….. they are really an up-and-coming program.

I Like this seasons schedule a lot better than last year’s.
High Quality teams the first 7 games.
Get’s us prepped better for conference play.
And our BiG schedule looks very manageable. Indiana and Maryland our toughest.
But Maryland lost a ton of kids.
You never know though.
Look at the Orioles last year. Came out of nowhere.
A couple good pitches and we are 3-0…or at least 2-1…against good competition.
I’m the eternal optimist…. But even discounting that…I like what I see so far.

And it’s OK to complain a bit from time to time. We all do…just natural.
But I’m not sure what some of the folks are doing lately is being a “fan.”
Some of those threads in the football forum are just so darn toxic….. you have to wonder if they’re true Nebraska fans or not.
