Former players told HuskersIllustrated.com this week that Warren's secondaries were challenged to be aggressive and create havoc in the defensive backfield, with turnovers the ultimate goal.

Safety Carson Bird played under Warren for four seasons at the Air Force Academy, and said Warren, who earned a Mr. Intensity Award as a player, gave his defensive backs room to make plays.

“He gave me a lot of freedom to play as an angry corner, and because of that freedom, it turned our defense around,â€￾ said Bird, a cornerback who lettered at Air Force from 2004-07.

“That's how he played. He was a bigger, physical defender himself and so he did a good job of picking and choosing which players fit that style.â€￾

Gone was the bend-don't-break philosophy, and corners were left in more one-on-one situations, with more responsibility on the field.
Looks like he, JP and Bo are going to have a lot to talk about before spring ball.

Here is to hoping their talks brings more aggressive, attacking game plans and brutal hits on the opposing QB.
