As I stated in a different thread, we are now in control of our destiny. If we win our final 6 conference games, we are the conference regular season champions. But, there is no room for error with Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, and Iowa right behind us.

We may be able to get by with just winning 5 out of 6 and still clinch because Minnesota would have to win all 6 to beat us and the other teams will need to sweep and have us drop at least 2 games to pass us.

In other words, getting to 17 conference wins will eliminate everyone but Minnesota and any loss out of their 6 games would also eliminate them.

Minnesota's website is saying that they have 5 conference games left: a doubleheader against Rutgers on 5/16 and then the three game set against Purdue that weekend. 5 games in 5 days is going to be a real test; I doubt they have the pitching this late in the season to get through that stretch unscathed. I think they will go 3-2.

Maryland has 3 games left against Northwestern. We need them to drop at least one.

Nebraska needs to go 3-3 to clinch, imo. Very doable with finishing the season against Penn St.

according to their record Minn has played 18 conference games. 21 is the whole season. For some reason Rutgers only has 15 conference games and maryland has 21. Neither makes sense unless the Terps swept the Knights and Rutgers isn't showing it. Anyway, looks to me like we sweep this weekend and its over. If the Gophers sweep and we only win 2 then the title is theirs. They are playing a team with 10 conference wins and we are playing a team with 2. Looks very promising for DONU, but we need to take care of business this weekend against the bottom dwelling Nittany Lions.

Minnesota had a 3 game home series against Rutgers April 7-9 canceled due to travel problems. They are apparently trying to make up at least 2 games in the middle of the last week of the conference season. There are supposed to be 24 conference games.

Nebraska has 3 at home against MSU and 3 away at Penn St
Maryland has 3 at home against NW
Minnesota has 2 at home against Rutgers and 3 at home against Purdue.
Michigan has 3 at Purdue and 2 at MSU and 1 at home against MSU
Iowa has 3 at home against OSU and 3 away at Illinois

I think Nebraska will need to go at least 4-2 to win the title, but Minnesota would also have to lose twice.

If Minnesota only has 5 games left and they sweep them all they will have a win % of .739, and Nebraska will need to sweep all 6 of their games to surpass that (.771). If we go 5-1 we would be at .729 .

24 conference games. Maryland has not had its conference "bye" week yet (I believe it is this weekend), while Rutgers has. Rutgers also had its series with Minn canceled and now 2 of the games rescheduled. So essentially, Rutgers has three conference series remaining while Maryland only has one

Maryland only has 3 remaining conference games because they have not had their bye week yet. Everyone else has had their bye weeks. Provided there are no cancelled games the remainder of the season, everyone will play 24 games except Minnesota and Rutgers. In March, Rutgers had to cancel their three game series in Minnesota because of bad weather on the east coast. They could not get a plane to Minnesota for the series. Minnesota worked out a plan where they will play a mid-week doubleheader next week in Minnesota to make up two of the games. Thus, yes, as it currently stands, we will have to win out to win the conference. But 5 straight games will be hard on the Minnesota pitching staff.

I will be disappointed with anything less than 5-1 against the remaining schedule. Penn St. is terrible and even on the road that should be a sweep.

Completely agree. We've been playing well as of late. If we play down to Penn State's level this late in the season, then we don't deserve to take the conference.

Naturally, winning out would be nice.

However, knocking out 9 wins in a row is not likely.

Michigan State at home, if NU wins that series, I think the conference is theirs.

It would be a lot nicer if Penn St was at home, road series are always difficult, regardless of who you play.

Like I said, if MD goes 2-1 against Northwestern, things are looking good.

No way Minnesota wins 5 in a row in 5 days.

Again, congrats to the team for a great weekend and landing in 1st place in the B10.

Still, no love from the pollsters: 36th and 50th place!

Even with Maryland's and our record so close, Maryland did not seem to get hurt that much, losing 2 of 3 to Illinois.
True, but they only have 3 conference games remaining. The maximum number of conference wins they can achieve is 17. Because of our tie, we currently have 12.5 wins with 6 conference games remaining. Thus, if we win 5 of our next conference matchups, we are guaranteed to finish ahead of Maryland, no matter what they do in their final conference series.

I meant the standings with the pollsters, not the B10. :)
