As a walk on it seems to be a win/win. Hopefully his rehab went well and he can keep his grades in line.

An interesting question. Since he was injured prior to joining the team and since he is a walk on. Can the school pay for any remaining repairs and or Physical Therapy?

I should hope that by accepting him as a walk-on that PT and/or follow-up procedures would be allowed, since if needed but not provided that would exclude him from meaningful participation, not to mention increasing the risk of further/greater injury. If it's about NCAA rules I'm sure your guess is better than mine.
