I am sitting here watching the Phillies play the Rangers. The Phillies put in a relief pitcher by the name of Jake Diekman, and the announcers said he grew up in Nebraska. So, I looked him up, and he grew up in Wymore, Nebraska and only played Legion ball since Wymore does not have a a high school team. In about 2006, he played one season for Doane, then transferred to Cloud County Community College, and was drafted in the 30th round in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. Does anyone know if Nebraska ever showed any interest in him? He pitched one inning of relief in the game today.
