1. It keeps you from being flat footed.
2. It makes it so you are turning your whole body not just your head so that when you plant the back foot to throw your feet are aligned properly.
3. Since your feet are not set it makes it easier to take off at full speed if you need to.
His may be more pronounced but if you watch in practice you will see all QBs doing this to some degree. His coaches may have him exaggerating it because he has had to work on it.
So that would be #4. Thanks for the addition.QBs also use their feet to help them keep a mental time for when they need to get the ball out. 2 "steps" or "hops" and that ball better be out or it's time to tuck and run.
