NU Wrestling B1G Championship, NCAA Brackets

"The third-ranked Nebraska wrestling team finished third at the 2021 Big Ten Championships with 105.5 points for the program's seventh top-five finish at the event and sixth in as many years.

Nebraska was led by second-place finishes from Ridge Lovett (149), Taylor Venz (184) and Eric Schultz (197) and eight Huskers clinched automatic bids to the NCAA Championships."

Some disappointments (Cronin, Red, Labriola, Schultz) but some good performances seen from Lovett and Venz. A step down from our Best team finish ever last year (Second).
1. Iowa (159.5)
2. Penn State (124.0)
3. Nebraska (105.5)
4. Michigan (92.0)
5. Minnesota (77.5)
6. Purdue (76.0)
7. Northwestern (74.0)

2021 NCAA Championships, which will be held March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.
There is a good chance that all 10 wrestlers will be going to the NCAAs!

Thanks for the updates. Sunday was a little disappointing. I haven't been able to watch much wrestling this year, but it seemed like a couple of the guys needed a little more "want to" to get over the hump. But overall, a good season so far. Hoping they all saved something in the tank for nationals.

Venz and Lovett wrestled out of their minds. Schultz, Labriola, Cronin, and Red just seemed to get tight at the worst times.

I did enjoy watching Lovett. Somehow I missed Venz's matches. I was a little disappointed with 1 or 2 guys, whom I won't name, because I've been there. Sometimes you just have a bad day / tournament.

I don't know what happened but it is disappointing. Too often we get to the NCAAs and then do poorly. We haven't had a National Champion since Jordan Boroughs in 2010-11. It seems we don't know how to get prepared for the big time competition, mentally or motivationally. It also seems we don't know how to develop and train championship wrestlers like Iowa, PSU, OSU, Minnie, Okie St. We can get a few to the All American level, which is great, but only a few. I hate to say and see it! We are great at recruiting the 2-3-4 time state champions who don't produce as you would think they would. Of course we are in the toughest conference in the US but that would seem it should help in development.
