Husker OC Matt Lubick staying at Nebraska instead of pursuing head coaching job at Montana State

The Nebraska offensive coordinator and receivers coach was a top candidate for the head coaching job at FCS Montana State.

If Lubick is going to be calling the plays, I’d say it’s a good thing. Frost is too invested in NU and sometimes can’t see the Forest from the Trees.

I agree but Frost isn’t going to bring in someone he doesn’t know, right or wrong. I do think Lubick had some success at Oregon and Washington IIRC. This frees Frost up somewhat to be a better game manager (in theory).

Yes it is. Things need to look a lot better on offense than they did in Lubick's first season here. If not, then Frost and Lubick may both be done at NU after next season.

The positive spin on this is that Lubick may have had an easy way out, and he didn't take it. So he must believe a quick and significant improvement is possible.

He couldn't even coach at the second best college in Montana!

Now if Beckton leaves to be the head coach of UCF, we can get a full time ST coach who maybe also coaches TE.
