"The eye in the sky don't lie"

Expectation that you give 100% on every play thru the whistle

Garrett Nelson is often used as a model of that type of player. Carriker used him again today. He leaves everything he has on the field

Now if he can just remember to not jump inside and to instead set the edge.

Perhaps a prime example when people wonder why Player A is playing instead of Player B, despite Player A not showing the effort they expect?? Perhaps the younger players just aren't ready to effectively carry out the defensive responsibilities.

One reason i find humor in people saying "just play someone else" or "play the freshmen" and then complain that the results aren't what we wanted to end up with.

Adam Carriker laid bare what many on this board have seen and pointed out too, which is the lack of effort by some players on the field. He made clear that this cancer should not be on field and these players should be benched.

Which begs the question that drives many of us nuts (leading us to be critical of HCSF), why haven't these players been sat down in favor of guys who will give it 110%?
Carricker just now noticed? He should've been on this weeks ago...now it just looks like he's piling on a known problem.

Many times it only takes ONE player not giving 100% effort which leads to huge gain or a TD. It's why it's so important that every player is on board and giving 100% on every play. Effort can balance out a lot of mistakes in football and life imo.

So if we have 11 guys...5 of which are giving 40 percent, 3 of which are giving 80 percent, 2 of which are giving 100 percent, 1 of which is giving 150 percent, and 1 of which is giving 200 percent, doesn't it all even out?

Another problem might be where we are focusing our energies. I mean if a guy is spending 100 percent on going to battle, running through a brick wall, or moving around, that isn't helping us. We need a guy to spend 100 percent on knocking someone's lung loose seems to me.

We are making jokes but on that play, if there is "swarming tackling" the TE is held short of the end zone, Purdue has to kick a field goal and we go OT not get beat.
That's DONU problem, not finding a way to finish, a way to not get beat.

Scott has to quit talking about how "we need to make plays" and only put people on the field who are going all out to make plays happen.

Because you never know when that crucial play is going to be there, when hustling to make a play or a block is going to be the difference in wining or losing.

1st quarter, 4th quarter, you never know when hustle, hard work, staying on a block, working to the whistle will be the difference.

Sometimes it seems as though our opponents have 12 men on defense and 12 or 13 on offense. UGH!
