How is he wrong? He's completely right. Gebbia bailed because he wants to play. Now Gebbia gets to sit a year and NOT play. If/when he does play it'll be for Oregon State. He'll never win a conference championship and may never go to a bowl the rest of his college career.

For goodness sakes, forget Gebbia. The team played great today and once they stop those mistakes, and get a little seasoning, it's going to be a great year.

Gebbia, had he remained, would have had the opportunity to lead this team to a win today. He may have had the opportunity to do so for several games coming up, if not for the season.

Are you guys sure? Shouldn't his support system just had told him to cross his fingers really hard that the guy in front of him gets hurt and that would keep his dreams in tact?

This isn't a personal attack. If you re-read HiO's post, he's putting most of the blame on whoever was giving Gebbia advice. That person has more life experience than Gebbia and should have understood how the decision Gebbia was about to make could very quickly turn out badly. Whoever was helping him fed into short term thinking rather than talking to him about the long term view.
