4 Star JUCO RB Dedrick Mills is N; Update: Will Be On Campus Wednesday 22 May

4. Nebraska is getting some legit experience with the commitment of Dedrick Mills. As a true freshman at Georgia Tech he rushed for nearly 800 yards and 12 touchdowns. That's hard to do regardless of the offense or conference you play in and it doesn't happen by accident.

5. Mills is a powerful, downhill runner that really seems to excel running between the tackles. He's not flashiest player, but you can't argue with his production. Mills shows good vision on the football field and while he's not a burner, he still does have the speed to get to the edge and create some damage. Garden City C.C. head coach Jeff Sims says that he feels Mills is the type of running back that could play for anyone in the nation.

6. Mills was dismissed from Georgia Tech for a violation of team rules. Nebraska has closely looked into the situation and is confident it's something that is not of concern any longer. Sims told HuskerOnline that Mills has learned from his mistake and taken the necessary actions to get back on the right path.

7. The decommitment ofThomas Grayson essentially left an opening for a guy like Mills that will be able to enroll at Nebraska in December and have two years of eligibility left to play. Huskers target Wandale Robinson is being looked to play a different position (Duck-R) than that of Mills.

After Mills' committed, Sims told Hail Varsity what makes Mills such a special running back. He also shared how he expects Mills to stack up in the Big Ten.

“What makes him a special back is the same thing that made Lavonte David a great football player," Sims said. "He loves football. He loves it on Tuesday, he loves it on Saturday, he loves it at practice and he loves it during games. That’s what makes him different. We could put a highlight film of him up where he doesn’t carry the ball. The block he made this weekend so our other back could run 75 yards, the pancake he had on the punt block team where he destroyed the guy on the shield. He doesn’t care what you have him play, he goes as hard as he possibly can. God made him as a football player. He is tremendous. What makes him great is that he is a guy that loves football every minute of every day.

"How will he do in the Big Ten? He will be an impact player that fits in just fine. Just like Jamarcus Hardrick, Brandon Kinney, Stanley Jean-Baptiste and Lavonte David. We’ve had four All-American tailbacks and he’s as good as any running back I’ve ever seen. He’s an elite football player. Now we just have to get him graduated.”
