What is incredibly remarkable about this class is that it was almost entirely built from early December, at the same time this coaching staff was preparing to coach another team to a NY6 bowl game. By the time our 4-8 season mercifully ended, our once-promising class was decimated. All of the kids we were really excited about, other than Jurgens, had jumped ship. We were down to something like 85 in the rankings.
And this staff managed to create a Top 25 class from those ashes.
I'm sure that there have been Top 25 transition classes many times. But I'm also sure that those classes retained a bunch of the talent from the prior regime. And I'm 100% sure that none of those classes involved a coaching staff that was pulling double duty, coaching another team to a bowl game, for the first month of their tenure.
Truly a remarkable job by this coaching staff.
