Except that Pelini, Moudy, and Sterup all started games over the course of the season.
Stop....
They started like 7 games between the 3 of them...
Take off your blinders for like 2 seconds please...

But they all have significant playing time experience ... even in games they did not start. They played key minutes in crunch time games and have enough experience. Are they "returning starters" - NO but they are not a bunch of inexperienced redshirts either.
If he can stay healthy, absolutely....I know Pelini returns, has experience and coaches have tended to give the nod towards an experienced senior at this position ... but do not forget about Ryan Reeves ... he's a kid I think will battle for this position!

Good Summary ***. And Thank You for not giving the automatic nod to newcomers like Keels and Clinkscales. I had to laugh last year when so many people had Finnin starting above two fifth-year seniors.
In your S&C thread, you talked about guys in our program getting beat out by JUCOs. I think McMullen will be a guy to watch in those regards. IMO, there is no a reason a guy like Keels should come in and beat hime out. McMullen has every advantage going into next season. Highly regarded athlete with 2 years in our S&C program and two years of experience in Bo's system.
Just curious, do you or anyone else know how Phil Steele determines returning starters? I wonder if 1 start = returning starter in his publications.
Not saying they are inexperienced, but they should not be considered returning starters. Our last 5 games where the guys mentioned were important parts we had this for our total offense stat:
Georgia - 307
Iowa - 281
Penn State - 360
Michigan State - 392
Michigan - 273
Averaging 322.6 yards a game which would put us at a salty 106th in the nation. While it's not Defcon 1 time, lets not act like us getting all the guys back that essentially started our last 5 games is a wealth of experience and talent....
Comon... You know that's not a fair way to compare and draw conclusions re: talent. That's a very solid total against MSU, Georgia was solid on D this year, iirc, and Penn St was in messy conditions.

Georgia was 45th, allowing 375 yards/gm, so not horrible.
Out of the list *** presented, I think MSU was the only game we had more yards than what the other team allowed on average. This tells me more than the 106 hypothetical rank.
If Ameer leaves, the RB position will be worse. With Enunwa gone, I think the WR position will be worse. I think the OL will be similar to the line we saw at the end of the year, far worse than the opening day OL with Long. TE should be better. QB I hope would be better. We shall see.
