As I said in the other thread Zack is top of the board for the QBs we are recruiting....you may recall he spent some time at the Huskers bowl practices in Orlando this past December and has been pretty open about his admiration of the school and the program.....we have a real shot at him, but its far from a done deal.....247 has him as a very high 3-star at this point in time and I would be surprised if he does not move up to a 4-star during the season by most of the recruiting services...Scout also has him as a 3-star....considered a pro-style quarterback by 247 and a dual-threat QB by Rivals...

Once again a prospect off of a state championship team where he was the MVP of the game (see the video below for all of his accolades)......

He ended the season passing for 1,725 yards and 19 touchdowns for what was predominantly considered a run-first offense. He ran plenty on his own, gaining 708 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Nebraska offers Zack Darlington, offer No. 8 for Apopka QB

FYI.....

“It’s a really big one because I really like Nebraska,” Darlington said. “I always watched them growing up and they had some really good quarterbacks like Scott Frost and Eric Couch, so to get an offer from them is really awesome.”

Darlington’s main recruiting contact has been Nebraska offensive coordinator Tim Beck, but the 6-foot-2, 203-pound QB also said he had a long conversation with head coach Bo Pelini last week.

“Yeah I might have talked to him longer than I’ve talked to Coach Beck,” Darlington said. “I love talking to him just about their offense and how they do things there and I also talked to him about his faith and he said he could get me really plugged in there.”

Darlington is a very faith-driven individual, like everyone in the Darlington family, and that sort of equal interest from a coach would impress the young Darlington as much as any aesthetics about a football program.

It’s interesting that Nebraska is onboard now, given that his brother, Ty, just finished his freshman season as a center at Oklahoma. Those once fierce rivals, however, no longer play each other since the ‘Huskers bolted for the Big 10.

Asked if he figured on any Oklahoma interest, Darlington said, “Nah, I don’t think so. They have QB depth for days there,” he said. “My brother’s roommate is Trevor Knight and he and Blake Bell are battling for the starting quarterback spot right now.”

Much more of a long article on him here: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...ack-darlington-apopka-20130311,0,1940305.post

The Prospector: Unselfish Zack Darlington sits atop Central Florida 2014 Super60

FYI....Sounds like all the attributes of a Husker.... :)

The one who stood out most in this next class of stars, however, brings far more to the table than pure athleticism, strength, speed or agility.

Zack Darlington
has all of the aforementioned qualities, but what goes unmatched by most all of his other peers are the intangibles he brings to the playing field. Darlington has the tools coaches absolutely love.

His determination, will power, intelligence, fortitude and toughness are all things that can’t be coached. Living under the same roof as his coach, however, probably has a lot to do with why those intangibles are instilled in him so deeply.

“That kid will do anything for his teammates out there on that field and there is a lot to be said for that kind of unselfishness,” said one college coach about Darlington.

Much more here and well worth a read as this young man is very impressive:

More:

Darlington is very athletic. I've seen him described as a pocket-passer or a pro-style quarterback, and I simply do not agree. While he can pass, not taking advantage of his legs would be a mistake. Darlington is quick, agile, has good speed, and runs with good balance and instincts.

In fact, his balance also helps him in the passing game. Darlington is not all that tall, and he has to find throwing lanes. This will be even more important at the college level. Luckily, Darlington is able to slide in the pocket quite well and keep his balance to deliver an accurate ball at angles where other quarterbacks might struggle to stay on balance. He also throws well on the run.

I like this kid. Seems to have the smarts and ability to play his position well based on what I've read of him thus far.

Reminds me of Johnny Stanton in that sense and would be a great fit in the culture and on the field in Lincoln....

Correct. What are your thoughts on us taking two QBs this year? Maybe one true QB and an ATH who could possibly play QB.... A friend of mine hinted that to me yesterday.

I see us only taking one quarterback. As of right now I don't see any prospects we have offered that would fit that outside of one prospect from the Northeast, but he doesn't want to change positions at the next level.

Still 10 months to go so we will see.
