You Know It's a Sad State of Affairs When.... (NU-IU Game Thread)

I do understand the negative comments... it's what Nebraska Basketball is all about... the program wins ~53% of the time.

Danny Nee (254-189) ~57%
Doc Sadler (99-78) ~56%

Not much history or tradition to build on, so my point was simply, at some point apathy has to yield to optimism.
For most that means a new coach, work that out however you want... but don't diminish the highlights along the journey.

As I've said over and over, there is absolutely no true comparison between Nee and Sadler. Yes, similar W-L percentage, but that's where it ends. Nee easily brought the program its greatest ever success -- and had post-season appearances and success that are second to none in Lincoln. Do I think Nee was "all that?" No. But as I will continue to say, if you can't be better than Danny Nee, you aren't a very good coach. Nee should be the benchmark -- and anything less than that is unacceptable.

The funny thing is some think Nee was a failure... but yet Doc is actually worse.

Interesting Basketball game thread in that there have been more posts after the game was completed than during the actual game.

23 game posts and 88 since.

Moe was better than Doc.

Made it to the semifinals of the NIT... and coached NU to their first ever NCAA Tournament berth. He did this in six seasons. What has Doc done in six seasons? Doc is Barry Collier recycled.

Nebraska (1980–1986) 106-71 (.599)

if I remember correct Moe was also a defense first guy.

here is his full career.

That's gotta be the post pointless coaching debate since the Hobbs Adams vs. Lud Fisher debate at KSU in the mid 1940's.

[I'll wait while you google them...]

Did you have a bottle in your hand again? Oh, and nobody is debating anything. HWM said Moe was better, I posted a little info that says he isn't.. End of story. I know, I know, you are just trying to stay relevant, I understand. I mean, anyone who tries as hard as you do to see his name after every thread has to be a little desperate.

:)

Well, I still say Moe was better.

Moe in the NIT: 5-3. One semifinal (Madison Square Garden) appearance.
Moe in the NCAA Tournament: 0-1. First ever appearance for Nebraska.

Doc in the NIT: 1-2.
Doc in the NCAA Tournament: never.

Moe also has a better W-L record at Nebraska.

But yes, you are correct. Moe's style was to slow it down, which had the fans clamoring for a Danny Nee type. For what it's worth, there wasn't a 3pt line when Moe coached.

I'm cool with that.. and I won't even call you a bad fan.

I'm just going to enjoy the upset win, since we can't do much about anything else.

Hopefully, tonite, we can rejoice again? ;)
