Zeke Moisey, Nebraska – 133 LBS (Previous school West Virginia)

After Sammie Henson was not retained as head coach, Zeke Moisey explored his options for his final season of eligibility. Moisey, the 2015 NCAA runner-up, will head to Nebraska and join former high school teammate Mike Labriola in Lincoln. Zeke earned All-American honors this year after coming up short in 2016 and redshirting 2017.

4 of the 5 B1G teams are in the top 5, hopefully we and others can close the gap and give Penn State a run; although they have #1 class. They develope them well there too, bigger the stage the better they seem to be.

The Huskers announced the signings of six prep wrestlers: Anthony Gaona (Overland Park, Kansas), Valentine's Jordan Kelber, Josh Mason (Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania), Jevon Parrish (Olathe, Kansas), Peyton Robb (Owatonna, Minnesota) and Brandyn Van Tassell (Spanish Fork, Utah). The spring signing group also included two transfers in Zeke Moisey from West Virginia, a two-time All-American and 2015 NCAA runner-up, and Christian Lance from Fort Hays State. Moisey will be eligible immediately as a graduate transfer.

Kelber was a three-time Class C state champion at Valentine and is the son of Nebraska national champion wrestler and former NU assistant coach Jason Kelber, who won the 126-pound NCAA title in 1991 and was a three-time All-American. Robb is a three-time Minnesota state champion, Parrish is a two-time Kansas state champion and Van Tassell is a two-time Utah state champion.

Brock Hardy (Brigham City, Utah), Jake Silverstein (Smithtown, New York) and Alex Thomsen (Neola, Iowa) signed during the November period. Thomsen is a one of the most accomplished prep wrestlers in Iowa history as a four-time state champion with a 190-1 career prep record. Hardy is a four-time state champion and, along with Van Tassell, will join the Huskers in 2020 after two-year Mormon missions.

Five Huskers Place Third at U23 Trials, 4 will be wrestling for NU next year:

"...rising senior Tyler Berger (70 kg/154 pounds), sophomore Taylor Venz (86 kg/190 pounds), sophomore Eric Schultz (92 kg/202 pounds) and junior David Jensen (125 kg/276 pounds) each took home third-place honors at the tournament after emerging victorious in third-place matches."

2017 Ranking: #7

The Cornhuskers had put together an outstanding recruiting class, however probably out of the top ten, until the spring hit. Peyton Robb, the top-ranked 160 lber in the nation, de-committed from South Dakota State after Chris Bono left and had signed with Nebraska. Austin Emerson originally signed with Eastern Michigan but needed to look elsewhere after their program was dropped. 2015 NCAA runner-up and two-time All-American Zeke Moisey transferred out of West Virginia after Sammie Henson was let go. Moisey fills a massive need at 125. A pair of four-time state champions signed with head coach Mark Manning early, they are Utah’s Brock Hardy and Iowa’s Alex Thomsen. Hardy will join the Huskers after taking a two-year mission. New York state champion Jake Silverstein should redshirt then attempt to replace All-American Tyler Berger at 157.

2019 Recruiting class signers - List of Champions continues:

Isaiah Alford: Lincoln HS; undefeated (44-0) and was the Class A state champion last year at 170 pounds; 2019 Western Junior freestyle Champion at 170 lbs.

Kevon Davenport; No. 4 overall prospect at 149 in the class of 2019 according to FloWrestling, Detroit CC Michigan; The three-time state champion has also finished 3rd at Cadet World Team Trials and won the 2017 Cadet Fargo Greco-Roman Championship. He was the 2017 Cadet Fargo Freestyle Runner-up. He’s won individual state championships at 119, 130 and 145 pounds

Tyler Deen, Buchanan California; 141; Junior freestyle All-American in 2017. He spent one year at Rancho Rio High School in Rancho Rio, N.M., winning a state championship there before placing at 132-pounds in last year’s California State Championships.

John Henrich, Akron-Westfield Iowa; 165; He’s a two-time state champion at Akron-Westfield High School. He holds an unblemished record in his time at Akron-Westfield. He went 43-0 his sophomore year and 44-0 in his junior year. Henrich ranks as the No. 17 wrestler in the 2019 Intermat High School Rankings.

Ridge Lovett, Post Falls Idaho; 133; No. 3 overall prospect in the class of 2019. Held a 129-0 record in high school entering his senior year and is a three-time 5A state champion. Last summer, he won the national championship in Greco-Roman at the USA Wrestling Junior National championships in Fargo, N.D. He also won the national title at Junior Folkstyle Nationals.

Bubba Wilson, Manhattan Kansas, 157; won a state championship at MHS last season. He also earned a state title during the Freestyle and Greco-Roman season this past summer. FloWrestling has Wilson ranked as the No. 11 high school wrestler in the country at 152-pounds.

Johnathon "Speedy" Ortegon. Walk on: Ortegon was a three-time state champion at Randall High School in Amarillo. Texas state runner-up at 125 pounds 2019. Third place at the western regional in Las Vegas, winning every match by either tech. fall or pinfall after losing his first-round bout.
