No, they did not…. And this was against Ty Horn, our best.Excellent effort by the Bears. The team that showed up tonight sure didn't look 2-13.

Wildest doggone game I have ever followed in a while…
Five runs in the bottom of the ninth to win it!
Just oh my gosh!
I’ll say this much….. these kids don’t give up!
Down 7-2 I didn’t think we had a chance in heck.
Boy was I wrong!
Those Maine boys have to be crushed….I feel bad for them in a way. They played good enough to win …..AGAIN!
13-5 at this point in the season after a brutal opening schedule. I’ll take it!
Not super impressive this last weekend but we’re doing what we should be doing….. beating the teams we should beat.
We haven’t done that for a while.

I agree. Hitters just don't think like they used to. When a pitcher has walked the last 2 hitters (I didn't watch the game but I've seen this so many times) and the pitcher can't throw a strike the batter must make him throw strikes. Take a pitch or two and the trend seems to be to swing for the fences on the first pitch. Bad baseball, bad fundamentals, poor coaching, and not great team work either. Now here’s a play I don’t understand…..
We had bases loaded two outs, and the pitcher is blowing up and throwing balls…
The count is 3-0. And it appears Fikes got the green light….
I guess they thought it would be a fat pitch for sure…. And it was, but he grounded into a fielders choice.
3-0 bases loaded down by 5….I’m telling my hitters to take the next pitch…. And possibly the next pitch after that.
Especially if the kid is having trouble finding plate.
Maybe Sabre metrics says the analytics are better in this situation to let your hitter swing away.
I doubt it.
I’m not familiar with Fikes, but maybe he has a reputation as a Long ball hitter….
Just really odd to me that we would do this.
I see a lot of changes that I just don’t agree with but maybe all the metrics support it…..maybe.I agree. Hitters just don't think like they used to. You don't have a corner on that OLD thing, trust me. Back in the 70's when I played I would tell my Team mates to hit the ball hard, not far. Do the former and the latter would take care of itself. But ESPN like home runs so that is what most college hitters are thinking when they step up to the plate. I would almost swing down on the ball because by the time my hips engaged the bat would level off through the zone. That is how line drives are made.I see a lot of changes that I just don’t agree with but maybe all the metrics support it…..maybe.
The changes in teaching young to uppercut swing instead of flat line drives.
The lack of any bunting skills seemingly on any team….lost art it appears. Obvious bunting situations are completely ignored….even by weaker hitters.
The example I quoted earlier….who in their right mind is swinging on a 3-0 count….down by 5 runs….with runners in scoring position…..on a pitcher who has walked the previous batter and can’t find the plate? At least take ONE PITCH.
It’s OK it seems to strike out….a lot….
I’m getting old I guess.
Well, I thought we were gonna lose that one..I've been so busy trying to pack up and get ready for my trip to Redmond.I'm here now glad the boys came back in that finale. Didn't get a chance to see if we pulled it out. Will go on B20+ and watch the 9th!Wildest doggone game I have ever followed in a while…
