Well, this pretty much takes away any chance of reaching the tournament this year. I give the ladies credit for gutting it out under trying circumstances this year. We have not been very good overall for a while. Recruiting isn't this staff's forte and Prince may have been a bit of a steal (hope she stays at least one more year)
Really? Huskers are a bubble team right now; but, this was an expected loss on the road to a team that is ahead of nebraska in the standings. There is a good chance the season ends with a 3 game win streak.
OmniRankings has their new rest of season projections up. I really wish they could have pulled off the win yesterday, could have had an outside shot at the double-by by winning out..
Although based on their conference standings projection, there is an expectation that there will be a loss among the three. They have a 10-8 instead of 11-7 even though current record is 8-7. Getting to 11 wins and at least the 9-seed avoids playing on the first day of the conference tournament. This actually seems reasonable given Prince's injury.
The 11-seed wouldn't be terrible as it would set up a rematch with a team we know we can beat.

Looking at this again and picking what I think are reasonable outcomes for all teams the rest of the way-- If Nebraska wins all three and finishes 11-7, chances seems decent for a 6- or 7-seed due to tiebreakers over both Michigan State and Maryland. Going 2-1 seems like 8, 9, or 10 seed. 1-2 is the 10,11,12 range. Losing all 3 puts us no lower than 13., so we are at least playing in Indy.
ESPN Update this morning (2/18):
A lot of Big Ten teams as the last teams in - winning all 3 of the final games, including home games against both Oregon and Washington, seems critically important.
Of all the 1 or 2 seeds for opponents, this might be the one to hope for (if can ge an upset of Louisville in the first round).. TCU is the last of the 2-seeds. It would be an interesting site and I wonder if Charlie Creme (ESPN bracketologist) did this on purpose. Former Louisville player Hailey Van Lith has landed at TCU after an underwhelming season at LSU. I can't say that I've followed TCU very closely; but, my general feeling is that the Big 12 conference is the weakest of the big conferences, so TCU may be getting the benefit of being a good, but not elite, champion.
Gritty OT win for the Huskers tonight. Fell behind 10-0 in the first two minutes, fought back, trailed by double-digits in the 3rd and 10 going into the 4th. Oregon is above Nebraska in the standings, so this was a big win.
35 points, 15 rebounds, 6 three pointers made. Oregon has a center that is 5 inches taller than Markowski and the inside shots were heavily challenged in the first quarter. Over time, Markowski realized she needed to use quickness over post-power and was simply determined to give her team a chance at the win.
