Why Is It Always The Refs Fault?

It was 2 technical fouls....McDermott hit 3 of 4. Momentum had already shifted back toward CU by the time Doc and crew lost their composure.

If you pause at the 2:35 point in the video you can CLEARLY see that gibbs has position on Richardson. Keep pausing and playing from there. You can see gibbs is shoved toward the middle of the lane. That's a foul on Richardson. From there Wragge obscures the view but Gibbs recovers back to his left to get the board. Did he hold on with his left hand? maybe but that was after the shove from Richardson. The 2:40-2:41 part is especially concerning with regard the Richardson. What the hell is he doing complaining to the ref while the man he was supposed to be blocking out has the ball under the rack? Clear foul on richardson...debatable on Gibbs...both not called. Gibbs simply outworked his man and made a play. NU Still has a chance at that point. Then it was McCray who opened his mouth and then Sadler childishly showed up the refs...who had had enough of his act to that point...he should have been lit up about 5 minutes before that and had to be restrained by one of the Assistant coaches. It was only a matter of time before Doc was t'ed up.

There's no need for objectivity really when you can look at the video and see what happened. Clearly gibbs wouldn't have jumped sideways so he was fouled. That is clear. Even if he fouled to get BACK in position it's a wash. From there it's all on NU and Sadler. Sadler had been losing his composure for quite a while and his team finally followed suit. There were plenty of bad calls that didn't go CUs way. I didn't see McDermott flip his lid when Young was clearly tackled by two huskers and lost the ball and there was no call. Were the refs having the game of their lives? Not at all. But they didn't decide the game.

Wow!

You are definitely a homer, that's for certain.

I didn't get to see the game, but wasn't the foul that started this situation called on Niemann? I didn't read that Richardson had anything to do with the play where Creighton was gifted with 6 FT's?

You didn't see the game so you decide to make yourself look silly by not knowing what you're talking about?

Watch the link, why don't ya? Richardson was being boxed out by gibbs before he pusshed gibbs. Gibbs recovered and got the rebound. INSTANTLY Richardson truned his back on the man with the ball and cried to the ref...waiving his arms...as the play was still going. Homer or not anyone with any sense...a coach especially...should be ripping richardson's a** for giving up on the play to cry to the ref. Unacceptable. So he DID have something to do with the play. 1. He's the one that got beat. 2. He started crying to the ref..which may have had something to do with McCray saying whatever he said.

If Richardson had not been beat on the play maybe none of it happens.

"Gifting" 6 free throws simply didn't happen. The second time Gibbs was fouled was going to result in 2 FTs. So at most it was a 4 FT gift. Can't really say about McCray cuz I don't know what he said. Then Doc acting like a fool cost them the other 2 FTs.

Your blind support of Doc Sadler won't let you see the real problems.

1. Six years and still Doc doesn't know how to get his team to score. That's not an aberation. That's who he is.

2. NU has ONE player that's really good and he's a mercenary...one and done. And I'm going to guess if you were honest with everyone here you wouldn't want a PG to be the guy taking all the shots. But given Doc's inability to coach offense that's the only option they have.

It's not going to change with Doc. The only question is how long TO will put up with it.

No Nebraska fan said that it was the officials fault that we lost. But, rightly so, poor officiating was pointed out.

Unfortunately, the Cornhusker board is constantly flooded by the fickle Creighton/Oregon/maybe Arkansas(pig sooey anyone?)/ and even sometime Nebraska contingent, depending who's doing better at the time, who don't give Husker fans the chance to talk about the highs and lows of our program.

It's impossible to bring up legitimate concerns, because the Jay(?) fans had their feeling hurt by Doc a few years back and have been relentless in their pursuit of their pound of flesh.

Instead of enjoying what appears to be a special season in McDermott's resume rebuilding career at the private school up the road, they're more intent on worrying about Doc and our Nebraska team.

Lame.

Way to rewrite history, Champ.

There's one Jay fan on this board as far as I can tell and it's me. Been so for over 30 years so keep trying to push your "fickle"....oregon...Arkansas bullcrap somewhere else. Everyone who has been on this board for more than a couple years knows that. They also know that you have some sort of wierd fascination with Doc Sadler that won't allow you to call a spade a spade. It has nothing to do with anything Doc ever said. Doc is a failure at Nebraska. He was a last second desparate hire...thanks in large part to your other sacred cow, Barry Collier, who left at a very inopportune time of the year. Doc had 2 good seasons living off of the fruits of Billy Gillespie's labor at UTEP. He was and is not qualified to coach at the "BCS" level and he's proven it. The only reason he got the job is that nobody else was willing to ditch their own program in August like he and Collier were.

Trust me, I will enjoy this season of CU basketball. But I'd also like to enjoy some good hoops out of the Huskers at some point too...unlike you I don't live in a small minded little world where there is only one way to be a "real fan".

I always believe....

Don't put yourself into position where the refs can dictate the outcome.

Over 90% of the time, if your team comes out on the winning end of the scoreboard, they deserved it. Same applies to the losing team.

Yes, there will be that rare occasion where a bad call cost your team... but over a season, it almost always tends to balance out.

Officiating isn't the difference between a team finishing in the bottom third of the league versus the top third. It's also not the difference between going to the Big Dance or not.
