Who remembers listening to WOW radio?

I believe i was doing much the same thing. I remember being very confused with the first couple songs after the break. Thought the radio had changed stations on me or had some sort of weird crossfeed.
 
A bit of KOIL Radio trivia--Mean Gene Okerlund, the TV announcer for WWE Wrestling, early in his broadcasting career, worked for a while at KOIL as"Gary Mack and his Magnificant Morning Machine". Also, Gary Owens, the announcer (always held his hand to his ear) for the TV Show Laugh-In also worked for KOIL (after a stint at KMA inShenandoah).
 
KFAB dude here...I am not sure we picked up WOW in 6 county, as it is only 5,000 watts!

Our tractor radios and trucks were always tuned into KFAB...which back in the day was typical AM station with music!

I have heard KFAB at night in the Ozarks, northern Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and even easter Oregon. Oddly enough, Bend has an 1110 am station too, so I can't get KFAB here at night!

Didn't really mention that, as I remember the confusion also. IF memory serves me right, and it may not, I do not think they mentioned anything about the format change for a while and just did it as if nothing happened.

Gary Owens had quite a career. I missed by 15 years in Shenandoah.

KBND is located in Bend, Oregon, in the the United States. The station broadcasts on 1110-AM and FM 100.1. The station is owned by Combined Communications and offers a News-Talk-Sports format.

Looking up some Omaha history, here is when each of the Omaha TV Stations went on the air

WOWT (6) Aug 29 1949
KMTV (3) Sept 1 1949
KETV (7) Sept 17 1957
KPTM (42) Aug 6 1986
 
We listened to KFAB and KFOR. WOW was an Omaha station - why listen to that?

Of course I'm talking the 40s and 50s

Where I grew up, even though we were closer to Lincoln, we couldn't get any Lincoln radio stations. The geography blocked the signals. KFAB and WOW were the best options. Usually KFAB.
