I listened to Husker games some times on WOW. Lyle Bremser was an icon on KFAB but frankly sometimes it was hard to tell what the hell was happening on the field when he got excited. "First and ten at the 20yd line. Tagge gives the ball to Kinney up the middle where he is downed at the 24, so a gain of 3, call it 2nd and 8". The guy was a character and made the Husker games fun but WOW was a bit more precise if prosaic in their description.

I remember WOW tv before it was WOWT.

I remember one time he called our defense on a stop. It went like this. “We caught them off guard this is gonna be a huge loss. Depending on the spot. So it looks like 2nd and 7”.

I still have a recording of the 1970 Husker National Championship Season on WOW with Russ Baldwin and Don Purcell.

I was driving a tractor doing fieldwork in the spring of what I believe was 1982 when WOW switched to a country music format. Was listening to the fender-mounted AM radio with earmuff headphones. Boy, were those warm in the summer! Went to a top-of-the-hour break on a pop format and came back as a country music station. It was OK with me becuase I was listening to both. I was in high school at the time.

I remember hearing after the switch that station management had gone to Kansas City and gone to a lot of record stores to buy albums to make the switch without letting anyone know about the coming change. Back when they were still spinning records!
