What does 7-5 or even 8-5 do?

I hear what you are saying, but we had players out and we were playing a freshman that is going redshirt this season. He has only played in one other game! Disappointing, yes, but a learning experience for some! GBR

Who is the freshman in the secondary?

I can’t imagine what kind of a statement that could make for recruiting. It’s certainly not a 10-3 scenario but considering our recent history and hopefully the retention of DH it could really help both recruiting and transfer portal.
Regardless, it shows progress. It is much easier to get guys to buy into "the vision" when there is evidence that it is working.

I think it's scheme. Not enough pressure and too soft of coverage. Rushing 3 and dropping 8 in the 2nd quarter against Wisconsin....

So, why does White think they need to drop 8? Doesn't have confidence in the secondary? Thinks the 3 rushers should be able to get more pressure?

In the big scheme for this season? Nothing, except maybe a better bowl slot if NU beats Iowa. Long term? It does much. Gets your head above water, and increases momentum moving forward. Any win this team can get will help in some manner.

Blye Hill, sorry a sophomore, has not played before this game from what I understand. GBR

Got it. Yes, he was hyped up in the spring until he got hurt! I didn't think he looked great but his safeties didn't exactly help him and he was still the one who knocked that ball loose at the end of the 1H, potentially even the game changing play. I have high hopes for him, Wright, and Buford returning next year.

Get fewer eyeballs in the Dec. 26 bowl games, but better chance of winning.

It would be nice to close the regular season with two in a row, particularly when you can point to coaching change that mght have helped that to happen.

From what I have heard Buford will back to safety next year which is his better position. A lot of our Secondary issues has been injury's and guys playing in positions that may not be their best position

To answer the thread title question…What does 7-5 or even 8-5 do?

Well…7-5 would give Nebraska one more win than it currently has and 8-5 would give Nebraska 2 more wins.

For the fanbase? I think if we see another offensive output like Wisconsin in either the Iowa game (unlikely due to weather) or the bowl game, then I think you'll see a ton of hype this offseason. Dylan looking like that in Wisconsin gave me hope that we didn't completely break him already. That alone has to give a ton of guys excitement. Defense leaves a lot to be desired right now but I think we'll get that figured out; knowing that your offense isn't going to hang you out to dry the second something bad happens certainly has to help.
We really don’t know if DR has been injured the past couple of months and playing less than a 100%. IMO he wasn't stepping into his throws the way he did the first 3 games. Perhaps DH made some corrections to help him the past couple of weeks? Bottom line he was throwing with confidence with some strong throws in the Wisky game. Just hope it continues Friday night.......
