I can see it now...5-0 Nebraska welcomes in defending National Champions, Indiana, in a nationally televised game. We then get our brains kicked in against Indiana and Oregon in big TV games and have to limp our way to the finish line to try and become bowl eligible. At this point the scripts are becoming too predictable.

Haha bookmark this for October and tell me I'm wrong. Over the course of two weeks we'll have threads asking, "What if we upset Indiana and become a frontrunner for the playoff?" to "How much is Rhule's buyout and how much would it take to steal Cignetti away from Indiana?"

There are about a half dozen troll accounts that will be coming out of hibernation on October 11th.

I can see Nebraska being 5-0 going into the Indiana game; with it being a home game and both Indiana and Nebraska having almost entirely new rosters, not too mention an upgrade to our coaching staff, beating Indiana.

It doesn’t matter to me if you are right or wrong. If they win…they win. If they lose…they lose.

Summer hasn’t even officially started and some are getting worked up about the season. That used to be me but not anymore.

While I’d love to see a 5-0 start, I’m not betting on it.

I was just basing it on the rankings mentioned at the start of the thread. Nebraska will be favored in the first five games. Doesn't mean we'll win them, as we've seen in the past, but there is a decent chance we come out of those first few unscathed. The issue will be the back half of the schedule. If we don't win the first five, bowl eligibility becomes pretty sketchy.

God forbid 5W-7L (or worst). If true, Matt Rhule will becomes a hot seat, guaranteed. Just like SF path ....

Like I said, fighting to maintain the middle alongside PJ Fleck.

That said, I have some hopes we can get to 8 wins against a respectable schedule.
The season hasn't started and the narrative is already shifting. A few weeks ago, the schedule was much harder than those in the past. Now, it is merely respectable.

Other posters go so far as the first 5 games are "easy".

It's like preplanning to have ammunition for later.
