had to make a post. The dragon has FINALLY been slayed. I used to post here alot, especially during the Tim Smiles era, and have been quiet for a long time. but, as a Back to the Future post to my 2014 self, NU and Hoiberg have FINALLY DONE IT. well done Fred, well done.
Man, this was the game we needed. you could feel the tightness, IMO. Jmar had a few "high dribbles" where the ball just wasn't quite where it normally is, the missed layups early on, them hitting (3) 3s i a row, it had that feel at the start...... and with every shot that went in for Dear Ol NU, you could feel the pressure valve slowly release. Certainly, we all would have taken a 1point victory, but the amount of shots that fell, from a variety of people, both inside and outside, that HAS to be a huge confidence boost. Mast had a fine game, but just imagine if some of his 3s went down. We win by 40. Feels like his outside shot is still the last piece of the puzzle to recapture the Nov/Dec magic that NU had. Either way, this game and how it played out was about as good as we could have POSSIBLY asked for, in terms of getting the win, releasing all the historic pressure of this game, seeing shots fall, and a HUGE confidence boost going into the next one.
Nebraska is playing with House money now, and that has to feel good. There always pressure to win, no doubt, but this game they just got past, had so much pressure NOT to lose. Getting past this hurdle is huge, obviously. GBR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
