Volleyball sold out?????????

Looking at the architectural renderings of the new layout, it's hard to imagine any VB program in the nation having finer facilities. The 'Bob' is being transformed into a Volleyball palace unlike any other. With the suites ringing the upper deck and the seats surrounding the court. It looks like the ceiling will be lowered as well with strategically placed video boards. I think it will be an intimidating venue for other teams to come in on game day.

As far as total capacity goes, I think nearly doubling capacity was carefully measured when they planned the venue. I look forward to seeing some matches in the new 'Bob'.

I sure hope you got a season ticket so you can get in!

I don't have season tickets, but even at the coliseum, I was usually able to find tickets when I wanted to go. Not every time.. but usually. I don't expect that to change.

I have purchased tickets when they go on sale in early August the last two years for the Ohio State matches and have sat in the 2nd and 3rd rows behind the scorers table. If I can get seats like that for the Colesium...I should be able to get in the Bob this season.

I guess I'm just a LONELY Skunk out standing alone in the woods! If no one can see my point then I will just quit pointing?

Oh c'mon, Skunk. You have a point, but the other side does too.

When you take a step back though the most amazing thing about the Volleyball program is what a great job they are doing. I was only bringing it back to that. You're totally good with me. I hope I am with you as well. We're all in the brotherhood of fans.

The original announced capacity of the renovated Devaney was around 7,000 seats, but they're now saying that capacity will be closer to 8,000. I think they had originally planned on ripping out the bleachers and putting in seats with backs, but instead they'll cram folks in on bleachers near the court.

http://www.omaha.com/article/201307...sses-subtracts-seats-in-20-million-renovation

Beyond that, he said, the new seating capacity would be “just under 8,000â€￾ — nearly double the Coliseum capacity and about 15 percent more than was estimated a year and a half ago when the $20 million renovation was announced.

Gone are the hard bench seats that circled the upper reaches. All but about 2,000 bleacher seats at floor level will be hard-backed chairs. The bleacher seats, Ingram said, are similar to those at the Coliseum but with more leg room.

The basketball configuration had about 1,500 floor-level bleacher seats. Volleyball will have about 2,000 in an attempt to get as many fans as close to the action as possible.

“Fan density is important to the volleyball program,â€￾ Ingram said.

There was also this quote from the article that had me scratching my head

Walls are now closer in and support an upper concourse where fans can lean on a 4-foot wall to watch a match. “Basically, we added an upper concourse for standing room,” Ingram said.

How much of that standing-room-only portion will be part of season-ticket sales has yet to be determined by the ticket office, Ingram said

I guess they're going to sell season-ticket packages that are standing-room-only. I guess that opens the door for more fans, but it's slightly disappointing for new donors that will probably only be able to procure standing-room-only tickets.

It looks like the red white game is sold out with 7.907 tickets sold. That is quite an increase from the 4,000 that the Colosseum held. They did almost double the capacity. I know it would be great to have a couple thousand more seats and it's wonderful that they can sell out almost 8,000 seats for volleyball. This is a testimony to the fans in Nebraska. How many places in the nation can have a 8,000 seat arena and sell out all the tickets for every game in volleyball. Shoot there are some Division I football programs that are lucky to get 8,000 fans for a game. So we should feel lucky to have the support we do it a state that is not overly populated.

I do see your point Skunk and I know it's a shame that they don't accommodate more fans by allowing more seats and it's a tough thing to balance. But at least there are now almost twice as many people that get to see them play then last year. I'd love to get to a game in Lincoln. I've been to Columbia to see the girls play a few years back and they were lucky to have 500 to maybe 1,000 at the Hearns center. And look were our program is compared to theirs.

I think with the additional seats if you want to go to a game or two it will be much easier to find tickets then it has in the past. I hop this helps you some Skunk.

Thanks! And I even said in my op that this is a volleyball palace that will take a back seat to no one! I just don't like the fact that at the Bob, people will be turned away. But Hey! us Skunks are always lonely out standing in the woods!
