Always amazed at what shows up in this thread!
I don't even recall when I first heard about Paganini's music, but I was totally flabbergasted the first time I heard some one play one of his violin pieces. The guy was well over 100 years ahead of his time. Amazing stuff he did.
One of my favorite bands 40 years ago, rediscovering them now.

I first learned of Art Pepper in some Detective novel I was reading, maybe it was a Bosch novel but I can't really recall. When I looked him up I was very impressed and loved what I was hearing. Great stuff indeed.
