I am afraid you are correct, but a win Saturday over an obviously overrated Wisconsin team (threw that in to placate the win downgraders) would be a nice step in the right direction.

BS on the 20 years. I don't recall ever seeing an OSU game on any of the networks although I'm sure they were on a few occasions. The Pac 12 network didn't start until 2011. You really think there are a lot of schools that are ready to pay someone from out of state who was just fired $300-400K to be an AD? I doubt it. Most ADs don't make SE money. Mark Hollis at MSU was getting about $400K until midway through his tenure, and he's had elite teams in both revenue sports. And he's an MSU alum.
I think there are a total of two schools on Earth who would pay Trev $300K+ to AD right now, and if he jumps from UNO to UNL and gets fired in 3-4 years, he'll have burned bridges at both of them. I could be wrong, I don't have any inside info. But for sure Trev has way more caché and fundraising ability inside the state of Nebraska than he does outside.

I don't think it's super rational for anyone to be all that confident they can do this job at the level expected by the NU fanbase. A good chunk of fans claim that even TO didn't do the job.
Trev's done good work at UNO, at least from what people tell me. But betting on him to succeed where TO supposedly "failed"? Can't think of a lot of reasons to do that.

Not saying SE didn't deserve it but it seems the consensus is that if a guy hires the wrong FB coach he shoild be fired too. Newsflash...strong odds that the next coach doesn't stockpile trophies either. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad hire.
