My feelings exactly, but I do have an extra bounce in my step from this add.

He should provide quality competition in a room that needed additional competition. What tempers my expectations a bit is the fact that he did not benefit from a full offseason in a program like Nebraska. I am sure the coaches have a plan to get him up to speed athletically and with an understanding of the playbook.

Hopefully he proves himself in fall camp sufficiently to earn a spot in the rotation in the early games. I have a feeling we might be needing fresh bodies capable of starting as the season progresses. It would be nice to have him fully ready sooner rather than later.

Having spent some time in western PA, I'll take a kid from Aliquippa any day of the week. Those kids are a different breed. Tough. And based on his scouting report, his style of running matches that mentality.

Quite frankly, even if Mekhi didn't get arrested, I really wanted to see another body in that room. This is a solid late season pickup.

I think because there was a head coach change, he is not restricted to the portal window with regards to a transfer. I’m surprised he didn’t go directly to another FBS team directly, but maybe this is how that plays out these days. Seems like a good talent to add, probably not an expensive NIL guy at this point.
 
He enrolled at IWCC for a reason. This just tells me Matt is worried about the running backs. 3 carries for 18 in the bowl game when the backs who got all of the reps withdraw from the team waiting for the NFL draft. If he was a great player he would have been on the field far more and contributed much more than he did. This one doesn't excite me. Nelson is off the hook with the prosecutor in Florida so we can still expect a ho-hum running game unless something unexpected happens.

Nobody has to be excited about the addition, but perhaps playing behind TWO NFL draft picks who had been multi-year contributors/starters at PSU (and rank very high on their all-time charts) would have something to do with his lack of carries. Just a little perspective.
